Like the Loire, the Rhine in Germany near Koblenz has a few sandbanks but although they narrow the navigating channel they don’t prevent vessels from passing.
A beautiful scene, and that sandbar is no doubt subject to the whims of the river at times.
At one point there are also rocks, just leaving a wide enough channel.
Boy, that does look like the Loire. It is really low now.
