Some of the vineyards on the Moselle near Bernkastel are nearly vertical and go right down to the edge of the water. Certains vignobles en Moselle près de Bernkastel sont presque verticaux et descendent jusqu’au bord de l’eau.

I wonder what variety of grapes like this slope. Maybe the chenin blanc as here. They must be happy.
@William – neat, isn’t it?
@Stuart – most of the grapes in the Moselle area are riesling. The vines are very tall, like those in Alsace and Luxembourg, unlike the vines in the Loire which, as you know, are squat.
