Our very favourite pure butter home-made shortbread biscuits – Les Grouets Sablés – now have their own tin (small and large size) decorated with the Loire Valley châteaux. You can buy your own at the Louis XII market in Blois on a Saturday or Amboise market on a Sunday. Bon appétit!

Very tasty!
Good to see him fully recovered from ‘your’ flu 🙂
Did I pass on ‘my’ saffron/biscuit trick (given to me by an old saffron producer, now deceased)? Spread a layer of saffron on the bottom of a biscuit tin then put in some plain biscuits such as sablés. After a day or two they will have absorbed a pleasant and unusual saffron flavour, but you haven’t wasted any of the precious expensive spice. You eat the biscuits and use the saffron in cooking later. A bit like the truffle/egg trick.
I’m definitely trying this one! And pass on the trick to Damien, the biscuit maker!
That’s a nice shot of product and producer !
@William – they really are moorish
@Stuart – especially, as Susan mentioned, after the flu he and I had at the same time!
