  1. And I think this gate is in a lovely village not far from Blois? I’m thinking I had a lovely lunch there and a new drink!

    1. No, Butcherbird, this is actually in Blois, along avenue Albert 1er which runs parallel to the Loire, but up on the hill. I’ll describe the walk in my next post on Aussie in France.

  2. What does the BIS mean after the number on the gate? I recently read a short story in french and it said this as well and I didn’t really know what it meant. Thanks

    1. In English, we might have 18a, 18b, 18c, for example, if an original property has been divided into three different homes. In French, we have 18, 18 bis, 18 ter, from the Latin. I could write a Friday’s French on that one in my other blog Aussie in France!
