As a French blog, I feel rather challenged by a subject about food. In the end I decided to illustrate a recent tradition in French cuisine – the café gourmand, which is a coffee served at the end of the meal with a selection of mini-desserts according to the chef’s whim. From left to right, we have floating islands, nougatine ice-cream, meringue, crême brulée (half-eaten!) and a madeleine. For other takes on this month’s theme, click here.
I’m booking a table and going straight to coffee.
I can understand that!
This would be a difficult choice. Everything looks delicious! Nice choice for today’s theme.
Ah, but you don’t have to choose! You get them all. That’s the whole wonderful point of café gourmand.
I love these treats but rarely order them because I’m usually too full après une entrée et un plat. Maybe I should order the café gourmand first !
I’d like these just a snack – I’d be to full to appreciate them after a meal.
A meal by itself, I am ready to dig in! 🙂
@Stuart @Gerald – You just don’t order starters!
@Merisi – Might be a little small for a whole meal 🙂
It’s the creme brulee that gets my attention!
