Marianne is the symbol of the French Republic and a new one is cast every few years. This one is in the town hall in Amboise. I’m sure you know who it is.

We once visited the Conseil Constitutionnel in Paris during heritage days with Jean Louis Debré, who used to be chairman of the Conseil. He entertained us immensely with his comments about the very large collection of Mariannes ! I was interested to see that Deneuve won the day in Amboise – the mayor at the time was Jean Louis’ father Michel.
I love the wallpaper, the one without the shields.
I love it too but it’s not wallpaper – it’s painted on.
