A mill race is the current of water that turns a water wheel, or the channel (sluice) conducting water to or from a water wheel. The mill itself, Moulin de Champigny, in this particular case, is on the other side of the road.
Entre autres, un bief est un canal conduisant l’eau sur ou sous la roue d’un moulin. Le moulin de Champigny se trouve de l’autre côté de la route.
