I have to confess that I had not seen the second Joan of Arc when I took this photo in Orleans today of the Christmas market on Place du Martroi. It was Jean Michel that pointed it out. The 4.40 metre-high bronze statue designed by Denis Foyatier was inaugurated in 1855.
P.S. The City Daily Photo theme day for 1st January is “photo of the year”. What is your pick for this year and can you tell me why

Great perspective!
I have some ideas in mind for my favourite shots of the year, but I’ll also be skimming through the months to see about any extras that might come to mind.
I’m often surprised which photos readers prefer.
Well spotted Jean Michel.
I assume we are selecting your photo of the year?
Yes, it would be nice to have suggestions. I’m often surprised at which of my photos on Instagram are the most popular.
July 20 – Swans and cygnets reflected in the Necktar River. The afternoon light is beautiful, softening the colour of the buildings. The photo makes me feel that I am there watching the swans and enjoying the tranquility of of the river.
I like the beautiful ragondin that was a wild animal doing it’s thing and technically perfect. I did go ALL the way back and some were like old friends. Good year.
Jean Michel will be delighted as it’s his photos! Thank you for going ALL the way back. I very much appreciate it.
