I was too busy translating, unfortunately, but Jean Michel went mushroom-picking on Thursday afternoon in Chambord forest and came back with five different species of boletus mushroom. The biggest basket was full of Leccinum aurantiacum mushrooms. It is sometimes called the red-capped scaber stalk in the North America. It is considered edible but only when cooked well. First it turns a bluish black then orange again.

Obviously you’ve both got a taste for these!
That we do!
I didn’t realise they turned back to orange. I’ve always been put off them by the way they go black — very unappetising despite the fact I know they are edible. They do have the advantage of being very easy to recognise though, if you are into foraging in the forest.
That’s because they don’t! I got them mixed up with the bolets à pieds rouges bleuissants. These one are black but we’ve always eaten them :). Sorry about the wrong information :).
