When I was expecting my daughter, my three-year-old son kept asking when she would be born so I told him “when all the leaves have fallen off the trees”. Every day, he would spend time at the window watching the leaves disappear. His sister was born a little early, on 8th December, just in time! After a fierce storm last night, all the remaining leaves fell off the Virginia creeper. The viburnum, however, keeps its leaves and lovely white flowers all winter.

Very pretty!
Our leaves are pretty much off, but some seem to hold onto their leaves through winter.
Must be so hard to have them fall so early.
What a special memory.
The liburnum is lovely.
Yes one year it hardly flowered but we have two lovely specimens now.
That was a special family thoughtful explanation. Very suitable. Now days it’s the ‘ 15 sleeps’ til Christmas or whatever that jar on me.
I personally dislike that « sleeps » expression.
