The Castle Dovecote – Le colombier du château

This magnificent dovecote was once part of the castle in Saint-Denis-sur-Loire. Unfortunately it is gradually disintegrating and it doesn’t seem that there is a project underway to save it. Ce magnifique colombier faisait partie du château de Saint-Denis-sur-Loire. Malheureusement il est en train de s’écrouler et il ne semble pas de projet pour le sauver.

Today we went to top up our local bubble supply – vouvray, the traditional method. We tried a new vineyard today, Vigneau-Chevreau, but we only bought their still wine. Hero of the Resistance – Héros de la résistance

This memorial in nearby Chaussée-Saint-Victor was erected in honour of Roger Auger and Maurice Caillard, heros of the Resistance, who were shot down on 19th Apri 1944 by the Nazi, a sad reminder of the past. Ce mémorial à deux héros de la résistance se trouve à la Chaussée-Saint-Victor, triste souvenir du passé.
