I’m a great fan of trompe l’œil but this looks more like Alsace than Vernou-sûr-Brenne in the Loire Valley. The second one is more local.

We Saved the Church – Nous avons sauvé l’église
On Sunday, we went cycling, including a visit to Châteauroux and the neighboring town of Déols where the church has a 3rd century Gallo-Roman sarcophagus. When we entered the church it’s seemed foggy but we assumed it was incense. We found the door to the crypt with the sarcophagus but there was a phone number …

Château de l’Islette
And the winner is Kees from The Netherlands followed by Timothy from Australia! This little-known château opened to the public in 2010 is just down the road from Azay-le-Rideau, one of my favourites. It’s construction was completed in 1530. Camille Claudel and Rodin stayed there several times around 1890 and there are many letters and …
Guess which château – Connaissez-vous ce château?
Just one clue – it’s in the Loire Valley.
Tree or antenna? – Arbre ou antenne
A very amusing way to help an antenna blend in with the surroundings. Une façon vraiment amusante d’intégrer une antenne!
Poppies or Wheat? – Coquelicots ou blé?
Although it might look like field of poppies it actually a wheat field. we often see them when cycling but they are not easy to photograph because there is not usually a line of trees to define them.
A Movie in the Making – Un film en tournage
I don’t know what film was in the making when we were at Villandry last week but I was amused at the green masks.
Gone to Seed – Montée en graines
I try to eat my lettuces before they reach such heights but I don’t have as many. Now that we go slug hunting twice a day, the population has diminished considerably and even my dahlias, which I dug up and repotted after they were totally stripped of their leaves, are reviving. J’essaie de manger mes …
Under the Vines – Sous Les vignes
Château de Villandry is famous for its gardens, the interior of the castle being of little interest. This photo is taken from the shady terrace along one side.
Under the arch – Sous l’arche
We finally went cycling again today from Rochecorbon to Château de Villandry. We had never approached Tours by bike from this side of the Loire. The building on the left is Saint Gratien’s Cathedral and the one on the right is the town library.
