Today was the most perfect cycling day on Lake Constance (Bodensee) from Bregenz in Austria to Langenargen in Germany.

Today we went through Switzerland on our way to Austria. We stopped to get coffee en route and found ourselves in a shopping centre spanning the motorway. No one was wearing masks including the hairdresser but all the shops had hand sanitizer at the entrance.
We had lunch outside on the edge of Lake Constance in Austria and only the restaurant staff were wearing masks. The owners of our rental apartment in nearby Altach told us there have been no new cases of Covid19 for more than a week in this area so we are feeling much safer! Austria was one of the first countries to go into lockdown.
Aujourd’hui nous avons traversé la Suisse pour nous rendre en Autriche. Nous nous sommes arrêtés en route prendre un café et nous nous sommes retrouvés dans un centre commercial qui enjambe l’autoroute. Personne ne portait de masque y compris la coiffeuse mais il y avait du gel hydroalcoolique à l’entrée de tous les magasins.
Nous avons déjeuné dehors au bord du lac Constance en Autriche et seuls le personnel du restaurant portait un masque. Les propriétaires de notre location à Altach à 20 km de là nous ont dit qu’il n’y a pas eu de nouveaux cas de covid depuis plus d’une semaine. L’Autriche a été un des premiers pays à se confiner. Nous nous sentons bien en sécurité ici.

I do not always remember the places I’ve been but I remember everything that I saw in Innsbruck five years ago and in particular the Golden Roof in the Old Town, completed in 1500 and decorated with 2,738 fire-gilded copper tiles for Emperor Maximilian I to mark his wedding to Bianca Maria Sforza. The Emperor and his wife used the balcony to observe festivals, tournaments, and other events that took place in the square below. Because of its height, it’s very hard to photograph correctly with an iPhone.
Je ne me rappelle pas toujours les lieux que j’ai visité mais je me souviens de tout ce que j’ai vu à Innsbruck il y a cinq ans, surtout le Petit toit d’or dans la vieille ville, terminé en 1500 et décoré de 2738 bardeaux en cuivre dorés à l’or fin à la demande de l’empéreur Maximilieu 1er pour célébrer son mariage avec Bianca Maria Sforza. L’empéreur et sa femme se mettaient à cette loggia pour observer les festivals, tournois et autres événements qui avaient lieu sur la place en dessous. Il est très difficile à photographier correctement avec un iPhone à cause de sa hauteur importante.
