I don’t remember seeing all these Santa Clauses climbing up the window when I was a child. The only Santa I ever saw was in David Jones department store in my home town of Townsville. Note the pun on the Krys Optician’s window!

Beauvoir Tower in Blois was originally a keep surrounded by a moat. In 1256 it was attached to the town’s fortifications and became a prison in the 14th century. Today, local crafts were being sold for Christmas. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even sleep there!
La tour Beauvoir à Blois est à l’origine un donjon entourée d’un fossé. En 1256, il est attaché aux fortifications de la ville et il est aménagé en prison au 14ème siècle. Aujourd’hui on y vendait des objets d’artisanat local pour noël. Si vous avez le sens de l’aventure, vous pouvez même y dormir!

Tea Time with Eric Saguez
Eric Saguez, a former pastry cook at the Ritz and Meilleur Ouvrier de France, opened his patisserie in Blois in 1994. The one on the right is called Oasis but Jean Michel can’t remember the one on the left! The title of Meilleur Ouvrier de France, which roughly means “best tradesman in France”, is awarded in each trade or craft category every four years to the winner of a competition during which the candidates are given basic materials to produce a chef d’oeuvre wiithin a stipulated time. It was instigated in 1924.
Ancien chef pâtissier du Ritz et Meilleur Ouvrier de France, Eric Saguez s’est installé au cœur de Blois en 1994. Le gâteau à droite s’appelle Oasis mais Jean Michel ne se rappelle pas le nom de celui à gauche. Le titre de Meilleur Ouvrier de France est décerné par catégorie de métiers dans un concours entre professionnels tous les quatre ans. Les candidats disposent d’un temps donné et de matériaux de base pour réaliser un chef-d’œuvre. 2323

I was devasted to learn today that Mr and Mrs Pétard, who have a butcher shop in Chailles, the town across the river from us in Blois, lost both of their daughters, Marion and Anna, aged 30 and 24, in the killings in Paris on Friday 13th November. While I stood in silence in front of the shop, several people came by to pay tribute. My thoughts are with their parents and loved ones. By the cruelest irony, their family name means “explosive”.
J’étais bouleversée d’aprpendre aujourd’hui que monsieur et madame Pétard, bouchers à Chailles, la ville en face de nous à Blois, ont perdu leurs deux filles, Marion et Anna, âgées de 30 et de 24 ans, dans les attaques meurtrières à Paris le vendredi 13 novembre. Pendant je me me recueillais devant leur magasin, de nombreuses personnes sont venus faire hommage. Mes condoléances à leurs parents et proches..
