We were a little worried when we moved from Paris to Blois that we might have trouble finding a good coffee vendor but we needn’t have worried. Every Saturday, we have our coffee break halfway through the market, sitting at trestle tables protected by an awning if the weather is miserable. And we love the people who run the stand!
Nous ne savions pas en quittant Paris pour Blois si nous allions trouver un bon vendeur de café mais nous n’avons plus d’inquiétude. Tous les samedis nous faisons un pause-café au milieu du marché, assis sur des tables à tréteaux et abrités par un auvent s’il ne fait pas beau. En plus ce sont des personnes très sympathiques !

Our neighbourhood association in Blois, Les Amis des Grouets, holds a mulled wine and chestnut evening every December next to the local church, with roastde marshmallows for the kids.
Notre association du quartier à Blois, Les amis des grouets, fait une soirée vin chaud et chataignes en décembre tous les ans à côté de l’église avec des brochettes de Chamallows pour les gamins.

At the market in Blois today, I noticed the sign up on the left saying Quartier des arts (Arts Quarter) for the first time. I wonder if it’s new.

Two Towers – Deux tours
These two towers are part of the walls that once surround the city of Blois. They are very imposing but I don’t know anything else about them. It would be great to walk around the top.
Ces deux tours font parties de l’ancienne enceinte de la ville de Blois. Elles sont très imposantes mais je n’arrive pas à en savoir plus. J’aimerais bien me promener tout en haut.
This 16th century fountain in Blois used to be at the town hall in Rue Foulerie which was destroyed in June 1940 during the Second World War. It was reinstalled in 2005 with the financial backing of the city of Blois the Rotary Club and the Amis du vieux Blois association.
Cette fontaine du XVIè siècle à Blois était adossée rue Foulerie à l’hôtel de ville détruit en juin 1940. Elle a été réinstallée en l’an 2005 grâce au financial de la ville, du rotary-club de Blois et des amis du vieux Blois.
When I took this photo of my favourite biscuit maker at the market – Sablés Les Grouets – the sausage vendor opposite was jealous, so I took his photo as well!
