Chaos
Chaos is the name of this sculpture by Vincent Barré in the grounds of Chaumont. I did not understand the explanation of what it’s about …. Chaos est le nom de cette sculpture par Vincent Barré dans le parc du Château de Chaumont. Je n’ai pas compris l’approche artistique sur le panneau explicatif…

Château Le Gué Péans
This little-known Renaissance Castle is not in very good shape but the young guide does a good job to make it interesting. The entrance fee of 10 euros is a little steep. We cycled from Montrichard. Ce petit château de l’époque Renaissance peu connu n’est pas en très bon état mais la jeune guide arrive …
Day #28 Postcard from France – Sedan
We are in the French Ardennes in the north-east of France staying for two nights in the largest mediaeval castle in Europe (35 000 sq.m.). Despite its 4 stars, the hotel is only OK, it’s main attraction being its location within the castle walls. There is nothing worth photographing in Sedan itself. Nous passons deux …

Below are some photos of the inside of the castle followed by some delightful thatched cottages in …

Day #6 Postcard from Germany – Schwerin Castle
This castle inspired by Chambord in the Loire Valley was built between 1847 and 1857 by Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. There is no ressemblance inside as you can see from the throne room. What I really loved was the sunken orangery at the back of the castle. Ce château inspiré de Chambord …

Day #2 – Postcard from Belgium: Jehay Castle
Our second day in Belgium was a little less successful. We cycled from Namur along the Meuse in the other direction to Huy and on to Jehay Castle. The route was less scenic with many industrial sites and we were caught in three downpours but our rain gear – capes, pants, overshoes and gloves – …
