One of our walks takes us past two geese that honk enthusiastically as we go past. We are thankful it is spring because there is always something new to see. Unfortunately the good weather tempted more people to go out in Paris today in particular. The figures were the same for our area with a …

Covid Confinement Day 19
Lockdown is already difficult for adults but for children, especially if they are the only ones at home, the days can seem endless. I asked my friend Lya, aged 8, to share her vision of lockdown. Below is her first photo and text. It’s amusing that my choice of photo today, before I received hers, …
Covid Confinement Day 18
With the plant nurseries closed at the moment, I ordered plants and seeds on-line. Jean Michel is making a cold frame. One of the local nurseries Gamm Vert is opening a drive-in for vegetable plants tomorrow so we’ll be able to get some lettuces. The number of deaths in our area is now 10 up …
Covid Confinement Day 17
I have posted photos of the Denis Papin staircase on several occasions but it’s never been this empty! Just two elderly people keeping their distance. Today I discovered we can order vegetable plants from a local nursery – it will be faster than growing them from seed. No further deaths in our area today and …
Covid Confinement Day 16 – City Daily Theme Day: School
Fortunately we have a school in our street even though it no longer serves its original purpose, so I was able to take this month’s photo during our one-hour physical activity slot. Sadly our death count went from 4 to 7 today. The first medically-fitted-out trains took patients on ventilators from Paris to Brittany to …

Covid Confinement Day 15
First day of our second fortnight of lockdown. The production of ventilators and masks has been stepped up in existing facilities in France while …

Covid Confinement Day 13
Cold and windy today but spring is well on its way. The figures are still climbing across France but no further deaths in Loir-et-Cher. Froid et vent aujourd’hui mais le printemps s’installe. Les chiffres continuent d’augmenter mais pas de nouveaux décès en Loir-et-Cher.
Covid Confinement Day 12
We went on our new forest-free walk today and I noticed this newly-painted gâte in our street. There are now 3 deaths in a retirement home in Loir-et-Cher. Nous avons fait notre nouvelle marche sans forêt aujourd’hui et j’ai remarqué ce portail récemment repaint. Il y a maintenant 3 décès en Loir-et-Cher dans un Ehpad.
Covid Containment Day 11
As the Saturday fresh produce market in Blois has been suspended until further notice, we went to La Ferme de la Touche in Chitenay yesterday which is open to the public from 5 to 7 pm on Thursdays. It was taken by storm so we weren’t able to buy enough fruit and vegetables for the …
