Today, we went walking at La Chaussée Saint Victor, a town to the north-east of Blois. We really like these roofs seen from above. The following photo shows the front of the manor house which belongs to the municipality. However, I was not able to find out any more about it. Aujourd’hui on s’est promenés à …

Ateliers Créations Minatures
You may remember a photo I took of a stall at the Blois Christmas market that I said I’d go back to. I was very taken with the handmade miniature garden birds. I did go back and we bought five little birds that we know well – the coaltit, crested tit, goldfinch and nuthatch love the fat balls and …
The Old Post House – La vieille poste
We have often seen the old post house at Chouzy sur Cisse from the highway along the Loire when driving from Amboise to Blois, but have never been able to get a closer look because it’s on a sharp turn on the road. Today we were walking along the path between the road and the …
Orléans Court of Justice – Palais de justice d'Orléans
This is the main court room in the Orléans Court of Justice designed by François_Narcisse Pagot and inaugurated in 1824. Below you can see the outside. The sculptures and bas-reliefs are by Romagnesi. Among other things, it contains the Appeal Court where I was sworn in yesterday as an expert translator which means I can …

It is a well-known venue for circuses, exhibitions of dressage, musical concerts and …

Sun on the Window – Soleil sur la fenêtre

This is the historical area of Puits Chatel which fortunately was not bombed during the Second World War. Ces deux fenêtres sculptées se trouvent au-dessus des degrés qui mènent à la cathédrale de Blois. C’est le …

Chenonceau
Chenonceau never fails to delight us. This is always my favourite view from the walking/bike path on the south bank of the Cher. Chenonceau ne manque jamais de nous séduire. Celle-ci est toujours ma vue préférée prise depuis le chemin de randonnée/cyclable sur la rive gauche du Cher.
Scale Model – Maquette
NouWe have never been upstairs in the 17th century covered market in Bracieux but during the Antiques Fair today, we were able to do so. And we found this scale model made by a Master Journeyman (Maître Compagnon). Unfortunately I did not take the photos from the same side. Nous n’avons jamais été en haut …
