When we arrived back in Chaumont after our 12 km loop to Rilly-sur-Loire today, we had still not seen the sun and it was 4°C!

I took this from the car as we drove into Blois this morning at about 8.20 am. The church is Saint Saturnin.

Mulled Wine in Tours – Vin chaud à Tours
Here’s another version of the Christmas stall – this time in Tours selling mulled wine. Obviously a local meeting place.
Voici une autre version du stand de noël, cette fois-ci à Tours où ils vendent du vin chaud ce qui semble bien attirer les gens du pays.
Miniature Garden Birds – Oiseaux de jardin en miniature
Most of the Christmas stalls at Place Louis XII in Blois are not very interesting, but I want to go back to this one. On the left are little figurines of garden birds that I thought might be decorative around the range hood in our kitchen.
La plupart des stands de noël à Place Louis XII à Blois sont guère intéressants mais je veux retourner voir celui-ci. A gauche se trouvent de petites figurines d’oiseaux de jardin qui décoreraient bien l’entourage de la hotte dans notre cuisine.
Tours Skyline – L'horizon de Tours
The city of Tours built on the Loire was very badly bombed during the Second World War but it still possesses a few historical buildings such as the gothic Cathedral of Saint Gatien you can see in the distance here.
La ville de Tours construite sur la Loire était fortement bombardée pendant la deuxième guerre mondiale ; elle possède néanmoins quelques édifices historiques comme la cathédrale gothique de Saint Gatien qu’on aperçoit de l’autre côté du fleuve.
Santa at the Market – Père Noël au marché
Unlike Santa Claus in Australia, where it is hot at Christmas, on cold winter days such as this Saturday’s market, that beard is probably quite comfortable.
A la différence du père noël en Australie où il fait chaud à Noël, la grande barbe blanche doit être plutôt utile les jours d’hiver très froids comme samedi dernier.

The Bread Box – La boîte à pain
The little village of Coulanges in the Cisse Valley has a town hall and a church, but no shops. Lionel Guéry has found a way of distributing bread to those with the right key! Their bakery, La Pétrie, is in nearby Chouzy-sur-Cisse.
Le petit village de Coulanges dans la vallée de la Cisse a une mairie et une église mais pas de commerces. Lionel Guéry a trouvé le moyen de distribuer le pain à ceux qui tiennent la clé ! Leur boulangerie, La Pétrie, se trouve à Chouzy-sur-Cisse quatre kilomètres plus loin.
