Our holly has lots of berries too but nothing like this splendid variegated holly bush at Château de Chaumont.
Notre houx a également beaucoup de baies mais il n’y a aucune comparaison avec ce houx panaché splendide au château de Chaumont.

The clematis had climbed 2/3 of the way up the holly before I realised what was going on – it was supported to grow on the wall of the garage on the right! But in fact its chosen path is much more exciting. The holly is also in flower which means we’ll have lots of red berries in the winter.
La clématite était déjà montée presqu’en haut du houx avant que je m’en aperçoive – elle était sensée couvrir le mur du garage à droite ! But en fait son chemin de choix est beaucoup plus sympathique. Le houx est également en fleur ce qui veut dire que nous aurons beaucoup de baies rouges en hiver.
When I was a child growing up in tropical North Queensland in Australia, we used to buy small branches of holly in David Jones department store at Christmas. I never imagined that one day I’d have my own bush!
J’ai grandi dans le climat tropical du nord du Queensland en Australie. A noël nous achetions de petites branches de houx dans un grand magasin. Jamais je n’aurais pensé qu’un jour j’aurais mon propre houx !
