After a week of negative temperatures, the Loire is beginning to show a few superficial signs of frost (frazil ice for the specialists) wtih these little bits of ice carried along by the current.
Although it’s nothing like the ice jam on the Loire in 2012 and 1987, the low water level and the continuation of negative temperatures next week should exacerbate the situation without the river being completely iced over. (!taken from Mag’Centre).
Après une semaine de températures négatives, la Loire commence a montrer quelques signes superficiels de gel (le frasil pour les spécialistes), avec ces petites plaques de glace emportées par le courant.
On est encore loin d’un véritable embâcle comme la Loire en a connu en 2012 et en 1987, mais le faible niveau du cours d’eau et la continuation des températures négatives la semaine prochaine, devraient amplifier le phénomène sans probablement arriver à un gel complet du fleuve.
